Production Manager

We are seeking a high calibre Operations Manager for our manufacturing workshop with the necessary skills to plan, organise and streamline our manufacturing process. The ideal applicant will be results-driven and a self-starter who shows a strong work ethic. 

This is a hands-on role requiring someone with a diverse range of skills with the desire and ability to continually enhance the performance of a small team of production staff.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the key duties include:

  • Plan, oversee and drive the production process.
  • Liaise with the Sales Manager and management in relation to the forecast sales orders to determine the production requirements and then formulate and drive the production schedule accordingly.
  • A strong and ongoing focus on driving costs down and increasing production efficiencies in line with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Implement and manage a comprehensive KPI reporting and monitoring system for production and the production team.
  • Ensure all jobs are completed on time, on budget and to the required standard.
  • Manage and implement appropriate inventory control systems.
  • Effectively manage, motivate and oversee the welfare of the production staff.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement activities including the quality control systems.
  • Achieve business targets including stock levels, COGS, financial budgets, timeframes and provide monthly reports to management.
  • Respond to technical queries from new and existing customers in a timely and professional manner.

The successful applicant will possess some or all of the following attributes, skills and qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of related manufacturing experience.
  • Proven experience in leadership, stock control, planning and employee relations.
  • Responds and works well under pressure.
  • Able to effectively manage staff and exercise decision-making skills in order to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity, experience and commitment to lean manufacturing principles.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills.
  • Reasonable computer skills with appropriate proficiency in Outlook and Word as well as strong Excel knowledge and experience.
  • A current car driver’s licence is essential. A forklift licence is desirable.
  • Adherence to the company’s safety protocols.
  • Possess a vibrant, positive attitude and a willingness to roll your sleeves up to get the job done.
  • Able to prioritise and multitask.
  • Able to perform your role independently.
 
 
Remuneration and Conditions

A competitive salary is available to the successful applicant. 

The position offered is a full-time role, Monday to Friday. Applicants must be capable of working in a workshop environment.
